Cool, very excited about airships. I might even finish my old relic with the new drop rates and light increases before the new one lands. So much content going into this. Can't wait.

Excited !

Other than the obvious new things that are coming with the patch here are some smaller things I am happy about

  • Able to use a different mount when your chocobo is summoned
  • Able to use more gathering skills whilst mounted
  • Ability to glamor multi slot items
  • Party bar goes dim when a party member goes out of range
  • Specialist master recipes. Finally specialist will have use on a crafter
  • Parry has been removed from the game

Can't wait

  • Retainer summoning bells have been added to company workshops. (about time)

  • The number of items players would like to exchange for company seals can now be specified.

  • Players may ride mounts in Idyllshire.

It's the simple things that keep me happy :P

Edit: oh and this too, even having to do 1 less hunt is worth it! "Upon completing the Void Ark, players can also earn a separate reward once per week. This reward can be exchanged with Bertana in Idyllshire (X:5 Y:5) for items used to enhance equipment purchased with Allagan tomestones of esoterics."

Company airship exploration and Void Ark. As  well as the next Primal battle and dungeon is my main thing I love about this patch. Oh not to mention you can indeed upgrade your eso gear too. Oh yeah this is going to be amazing

Party bar going dim when out of range is unusually exciting, especially for PVP healing...

Yeah, it is very useful, even for ranged DPS during PVP. Sometimes I've been forced to heal in PVP so I'm sure it will help with repositioning. Sometimes I wonder if I can really heal my party members but can't tell if they really are in range or not with the amount of people around me e_e

re: Preliminary Patch Notes are up.

I finally got through all the patch notes after GOD knows how many days I procrastinated through them ... and I'm just gonna summarize some things because I'm all-important and all-powerful.

Quests: I see Elezens again. You look stupid pirate man.

Vanu Vanu Beast Tribe Quests: I like how they inserted an entire new settlement into the Sea of Cloud's to start up these. A few of the islands did seem a little empty with just a few enemies on them, so being able to see new structures is always nice. I know that strays away from the actual point of the beast tribe quest, BUT IT'S NICE. I'll be doing them for sure for that sparkly new snek mount I want to be cool ... (also useful that they can be done by levels between 50 and 60. Would be another nice alternative to level at the same time)

New items for treasure maps: I need to do treasure maps but ...

'Free Company names can now be changed': Ah, good. Can they be usurped next? Can I hack into the general mainframe to give myself a tasty new rank DIFFERENT from the rest of my cohorts?

The Moogle House: #warflashbacks

New Furnishings: I wish I had a house to care about the new furniture ... one day I'll purchase my own room in the manor. I guess I'll just mooch off Kippin.

Steward NPC: WHAT DO THEY DO !?!??!!

New Tenant Feature: Pretty nice especially if there are any friends outside the FC, or if two FCs (or more) want to share the benefits of having a house. Currently I don't think there is enough plots of land to be able to cater to every FC, but FCs can join together to share a piece of land with other FCs to allow them to use the stables or to garden. But then people may end up joining FCs which actually own the house ... it's a weird addition.

Demolition of Inactive Housing: Finally. In my last FC, whereby I became one of the last to log in, I feared sometimes for the mansion we had. I wasn't made owner but then I realized that enix would not be removing it anyway. It felt like a waste to just leave it there when it was not being used any more, but then you think about how much work when into building it and maybe enix realised that too. It's nice they have a feature to halt demolition, but sometimes things happen.

Altering the LIGHTS OF THE MANSION: OOOOOoohh... BABY

Lord of Verminion: I was sort of blown away by the amount of information that was provided for the game. It's clear they would like people to play it. I'm definitely going to try it out for the cute factor, but I hope it yields some good rewards or credits so I can purchase some good rewards from the Gold Saucer. The minions have always been an 'extra feature' that didn't really do anything but follow you and stare at you during gathering, and I never truly understood why people paid so much money to acquire them. I imagine a lot of the rarer minions will have better stats than the more common drops, a little like triple triad, which will keep the market open for minions being purchased to play this game. I wouldn't mind playing this with other people.

New Gold Saucer items: We're all buying the roasted dodo hat for Xmas right?

Triple Triad: FINALLY NEW CARDS and "the chance of obtaining cards from dueling certain NPCs has been increased" -- good.

New Flying Mounts: WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE MAGITEK ARMOUR CAN NOW FLY!? OH... OHHHH... I HOPE I CAN STILL SHOOT.

New Hairstyles: 80% of the new hairstyles I don't care about. Hair flick. I still think if you call out your own death and die you should dye your hair pink and wear the afro for 24 hours.

New Dance Emotes:

Riding Mounts in Idyllshire: WHY? Why can't I RIDE MOUNTS IN GRIDANIA? OR LIMSA? OR UL'DAH? OR ISHGARD? OR ALA MHIG-- OH WAIT, THE GAME HASN'T ADDED THAT YET. I WONDER WHEN. I NEED ALA MHIGO FOR INTERNAL ROLEPLAYING REASONS. (THERE IS A REASON I NEVER FAST TRAVEL IN SKYRIM OR DRIVE LIKE AN ALIEN IN GRAND THEFT AUTO GUYS)

NINJA TP Cost reductions: FINALLY. I'm not sure many people even noticed but NINs were in a tough spot even in the top raid groups where they drained through TP so incredibly fast that it wasn't even funny. There was so much Skill Speed thrown on ALL the gear sets and NIN still suffered the TP cost increase from previous patches due to them being 'too stronk' ... so it did not balance out well at all. There are times I've forgotten to invigorate at the right time. I'm pretty good at memorizing -- without even looking at my TP bar -- when I will need to use it in my 3rd, 4th or 5th rotation ... but sometimes it just ran away from me due to how ridiculously fast the TP bar just DISAPPEARED after getting a new piece of gear. IT WAS SO DUMB ... but I hope this really helps.

NINJA Mudra adjustments: What have they done? I guess you can input them faster? I dunno-- with the new EU server I'm scared of inputting my mudras too fast and then I just mess the whole pattern up and get a dunce bunny.

Limit Break Charging: I don't like how they have them split into those 'groups'. I'd be better with "Limit Break Gauge will fill more slowly if there are more than 2 of the same class in a party' or something. Just sorta sucks if your party composition is something like (MELEE), BRD, SMN and BLM.

New Dungeons: I always like having new dungeons ... I also like the gear these dungeons drop even if Vack has zero taste.

Knights of the Round Extreme: I CALLED IT. I CALLED IT. People were like "OH NO CIRRUS. THEY'LL NEVER DO THAT. IT'S A MAIN SCENARIO TRIAL'. BOW TO ME PEASANTS. I KNOW EVERYTHING.

Echo: When I saw Echo was being added to stuff I got worried about Alexander Savage but breathed a sigh of relief when it was just the primals ... phew.

Crafting Items dropping in chests in Extreme Primals: I wonder if doing these synced or unsynced will still make a difference? Will the drop rate be the same despite appearing in a chest? I'll be willing to try it. It would be sad if there is no difference. People - the fc - can make a lot of money from selling the crafting items from these instances. It would keep the value up on these items and make people feel special. Their desirability will remain.

Void Ark: I'm diggin' that new final boss fight tho. I'm not too keen on the gearsets but the actual instance looks AMAZING.

Alexander Normal Restriction: I'm glad it's gone. It would help get people into Savage faster. 4 weeks for something you may change for esoterics is just way too long.

Exploratory Missions: I HAVE TOO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS SO I'M JUST GONNA ILLUSTRATE MY EXPRESSION

Poetics Gear Price Drop: NICE. I like the look a lot of the old poetics stuff and I like gearing out the classes I want to level in that stuff ... so I really like the decrease in prices. It's about time.

Clan Mark Logs, Centurio Seals and HUNTS: THEY ARE BACK. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Tradable Versions of dyes I've been wanting my retainer to bring me for years: I HATE THE WORLD.

NOW I'M TOO MAD TO DO THE REST. TRADABLE METALLIC DYES. WHY DO YOU DO THIS NOW ENIX. WHY DIDN'T YOU HEAR MY CRIES FOR HELP!?

Nice read Cirrus. You made me look up the limit break changes as I missed that. Now I am sad ! :(

Why do you think they would change it to be like this? It handicaps any group that goes both Summoner and BLM.

Maybe to encourage more compositions to incorporate melee, who knows. Having BLM, SMN, BRD and MCH in the same "ranged" category 'makes sense', but to handicap groups that use 3 ranged and a melee (when 2 of those ranged are magic-related), just seems odd. I would have been better with something like:

Tanks: DRK, PLD, WAR
Physical-Ranged/Ranged/Support: BRD, MCH
Magic-Ranged/Caster: SMN, BLM
Melee: MNK, NIN, DRG
Healer: SCH, AST, WHM

That said, with Team Beard, we are running with 2 DRGs (Though Speedwagon plans to switch to SMN when he catches up with gear for it). Originally our limit break would fill more slowly because we had 2 DRGs, but we managed to hit LB3 for AS1 at a decent time ... it was usually before the last jump. But now they've changed it and we're still going to have that slow LB charge which other teams have been able to avoid because of their compositions. So now I'm sitting here like 'we're changing composition but still running into the slow LB issue we had beforehand'

:T

 Bye Silver...

Seriously though it does say via the Duty Finder but technically Savage isn't actually in the Duty Finder yet though right? So it won't affect savage until it is by which point it will probably have echo and we will be better geared and it will be less of an issue?
