So, with all the expansion business going on (with leveling, learning fights,etc) its been some time since I have fished for some proper news. Well, I guess the title somewhat gives it away. With Heavensward being recently released, how could there be expansion news already? Well, thats just how Yoshi P rolls - albeit there is no real details, it has been disclosed that it will be in about 1.5 years, it will be 4.0 (a given), and that the concept for the story board has been written and that the major decisions have already been made.  What does any of this mean? Well, I don't know, but apparently details will start trickling out soon. I will of course be on top of that like Silver on the dead pile.

 

Also mentioned at Gamescon 2015, directly from the Yoshi P's mouth was this little tidbit about the Golden Saucer:

“To stick to the gold saucer first: There is a big update coming in patch 3.1. A new attraction will be added, equally in size compared to Triple Triad or the Chocobo Races. It’s going to be really big.

Besides the addition of other mini games, adjustments to the MGP coins and to the rewards you will get through your coins will be made.

We even had plans for a mini game in 3.0, where you had to find rings in the game world with your flying chocobo within one minute to claim a reward. Back then we hadn’t the costs and resources to do it, but currently the level design team is working on finalizing it.

It might not happen in the Ishgard area, but it will be an instanced area like for the chocobo races, where you can use flying mounts instead.”

 

Again, as more information trickles out I will post it as soon as soon as I find it.

Yeah I know even before HW Yoshi P was talking about an expansion beyond it. A lot of people are going with the "land, sea and sky" theory, that our next expansion will be more sea-based? Personally ... I feel Ala Mhigo will be added as the next big "city-state", but that's all dependent on what happens with the story especially with the Garlean side, and even Raubahn. That and it's moreso the "Hyur" home and we don't really have one of those in ffxiv yet ...

Some people were whispering about Xelphatol and Garlemald (Doomtrain) too, but from what I gather Xelphatol is mostly wasteland and it is only occupied by the Ixal -- I'm guessing it could be added if the Ixal themselves are woven into the storyline again. 

Probably more floating islands.

Probably new jobs but I doubt we'll get as many as 3.

I'd be surprised if we got less than 3. There are too many jobs people want to see and there no where near touching upon the amount of jobs people expected to see when it comes to Vs 11 numbers. That said though, there being no actual support classes in the game (and their refusal to add them), how many DPS jobs can you plausibly pump out before diminishing returns kicks in.

I always thought the support jobs were great in XI so it's a real shame they won't even entertain it. I get the impression that Yoshi is really big on balance, which is a good thing, but having played AST which is the nearest thing we have to a buffer of any sorts, (healing, or lack of, to one side) the benefit they bring with the card system needs some serious work to make it a viable option. I was hoping that it would have played more like Corsair in XI if I am honest but I think they were so worried about it being over powered they decided to approach with caution. Now they are talking about stance dancing with it which may help.

I remember watching the live letter when they announced the new classes. Everyone was so disappointed Samurai didn't make it in, so it wouldn't surprise me if they make that the next but rather than a tank or dps maybe they could do either. I don't know, just theorising, but I agree, only so many dps classes they can pump out.

Some people were speaking about dancer as a new healer class but, I'd really like to see some full-on support classes ... but when you think about it the way this game works is still different from how FFXI played. It just annoys me that pseudo-support classes like MCH and BRD still don't really a lot of "support tools" but get penalized further for "using" those little support skills with their already low weapon damage. When you think about it, a lot of the other DPS have support tools that can help buff the party so you begin to question what really makes a DPS more of a support ...

I'd like to see 8-man dungeons as opposed to always 4-man dungeons. I think they'd be a lot of fun and offer a bit more challenge ... kinda like Alex NORMAL but applied along with the story.

And still a more difficult over world ....

 Do you not think Xelphatol would just be a zone like Dravanian Hinterlands/Forelands? I think Xelphatol will come with Ala Mhigo

 For support classes to happen they'd have to fully cave in... I'd imagine, and redraft the balancing scheme.  And people were disappointed for Samurai not making a début?  To be frank, visually and functionally it'd be stepping on too many people toes (and I can't hide the fact I'd find them boring myself. >_>)  There needs to be another offensive caster... that goes without saying.  There's room for that (I don't even like casters unless they present something exceptional.)  The vote is on Red Mage, though my heart reaches out for Blue Mage; I'd like to have a sub role that's a DPS I actually care for.

@At the proposed GS additions. "Besides the addition of other mini games, adjustments to the MGP coins and to the rewards you will get through your coins will be made." Guh... guh I says to the thing I expected to be grossly re-tweaked back in March or whenever that was. ... ...back to points hoarding as opposed to points spending. = =

maybe the next area will be the moon? XD , badguy was on the moon and maybe some mooncaves to explore. or like cirrus said, something sea-based. do we also then get a boat mount?

i dont think they are going to redesign the old areas because its not expansion content. maybe they let us fly in them but that takes some depending on if they designed it well (no roofs on overhead etc.). and i hope they give some more face paint, tattoo or hair designs.

on classes its possible they do another 3 individual jobs (tank,healer,dps) to make it 'fair' and i hope samurai is coming before the expansion >_< . for the new classes it would be fun to see something like a magiteck user like in FF 6 but i think its to close to MCH. if there is coming a dancer than its for me insta sold, it would be some kind of support-ish class. if they going for the common picks it would be red mage but i can't think of any usefullness they can do because they are a hybrid wielding swords and do magic at the same time. It would be weird but also funny if they do a gunblade specialist because they kind of brought it back in FF13(actually i don't see anything usefull to it) or a judge from FF12(lol).

 

in gameplay i hope they give the limit breaks MORE variety because its back to square one that melee dps is using it for damage or healer to ressurect wiped party and i barely see someone use the tank limit break because everyone thinks its a waste and can't finish the fight before wipe like bismarck and ravana that you wont kill it in time.

for the housing it would be interesting if they add a balcony for each private room or just in general for the house. I WANT TO LOOK OUTSIDE. i also was kinda dissapointed that there isnt actually a FC underground airship hangar where you can see the personall airships (or at least i havent found them yet?) and maybe customize them how they look?

 

technical things (more a ranting demand from me):

- i personally dont like the threat meters. as a tank, i want to know how much threat i have per enemy, and not how much each party member has threat ON EACH INDIVIDUAL MOB.  for example i like to see that they add threat percentage.

- remove some invisble walls that makes no sense at all that you cant acces certain spots. (WANT TO NINJA TELEPORT ON FC BALCONY THING).

 

man, this feels more like hopes and demands than speculation :/
